What is Metaverse

Whether Metaverse and Blockchain are Sides of One Coin?

Metaverse is a new digital platform connecting users through a shared metaverse, or online 3D world, using Blockchain and digital identification technology. Metaverse uses the power of Blockchain to connect individuals in a digital arena, allowing them to construct, interact, and transact in a more efficient, secure, and cost-effective manner. Metaverse aspires to establish a digital environment that is open, inclusive, and fair, where anybody may express themselves, make relationships, and produce value. Metaverse offers a new generation of online services and experiences, thanks to its technical base of Blockchain, digital identity, and virtual reality.

What is Metaverse?

The term “meta” alludes to “beyond,” while “verse” refers to the “universe.” Furthermore, some individuals use the term metaverse to refer to virtual worlds in which players can travel and interact with one another; for example, a world where developers can create buildings, parks, signs, and other items that do not exist in reality. It has massive hovering overhead light shows and well-known neighborhoods (where the rules of three-dimensional spacetime are ignored, and free-combat zones where people can go hunting and kill each other).

Why has the popularity of metaverse increased?

During the COVID-19 outbreak, people’s lifestyles changed dramatically, and students began taking online classes and working from home. This shift in the working environment necessitated ways to provide real-world experience while working or learning at home. Facebook changed its name to Meta in October 2021 to reflect its goal of creating a virtual world, or metaverse.

Blockchain and Metaverse Interrelation

The metaverse is a broad idea, and blockchain technology, like other new technologies, is expected to play a role. It is a collection of several technologies like machine learning, AI, VR, and Blockchain that have been brought together to work harmoniously and revolutionize how we interact with the internet. The metaverse is a three-dimensional virtual reality realm where users can interact with digital objects and each other in a fully immersive environment. The metaverse is infinite, continuous, real-time, self-contained, interoperable, and decentralized.

It’s easy to see how cryptocurrencies could help the metaverse achieve its goal. Cryptocurrency has no relation to real-world fiat money in terms of value or physical form. As a result, it is a convenient way of payment and transaction in the virtual world. Furthermore, the metaverse is decentralized by definition. No one should not govern the metaverse, and decentralizing its currency would go a long way toward achieving this goal.

Additionally, cryptocurrency (and blockchain technology in general) may be a valuable anchor in an ever-changing world. In the metaverse, our surroundings, natural habitats, people’s appearances, products, and so on would vary based on developer activity and ongoing customization. Blockchain and cryptocurrency’s immutability would give critical stability.

At the same time, we cannot overlook that decentralization is a crucial factor in the metaverse. With the adoption of blockchain technology, users can safeguard their digital assets in VR. This point is highlighted in the blockchain projects like “The Sandbox” and Axie Infinity as they are connected with metaverse. Other features of blockchain technology like the value of the transfer, digital collectability, digital proof of ownership, accessibility, governance, and interoperability are also necessary for the effective execution of the metaverse. These blockchain features provide a cost-effective and transparent alternative for the users.

Cross-chain compatibility of the Blockchain is working as a foundation stone for the metaverse. With cross-chain compatibility blockchains, the users can use their cryptographic tokens, both fungible and non-fungible tokens, between blockchains.

Final Thoughts: Even though Blockchain is not necessary for a metaverse environment, it adds value to the metaverse. Blockchain adds value to the metaverse. It will be fascinating to see how the metaverse will develop in the future. Stay tuned and comment on your views on the box below for more exciting stories.
